So, the Purple Day, as it is known as Epilepsy Awareness Day is basically an awareness day. The main intention behind celebrating or acknowledging this day is to increase awareness regarding epilepsy in the people’s minds.

In the country India, a large chunk of people don’t know what epilepsy is. Even if they know it in the regional languages, they tend to ignore it. It is said that around one crore people in the country have epilepsy. Out of these one crore, thirty lakh would be ineffective towards any kind of vaccines and medicines.

So, if we look at such figures, it becomes a large number. If so many people are being affected by this disease, then the country really needs to take some decision. Looking at such a situation, the Purple Day came into existence. The day is meant to spread awareness around the globe regarding epilepsy.

During epilepsy, the brain cells start to perform uncontrollably unwell. They start to produce high frequency energies which are often not easily controlled by the body. Therefore, it results in seizures. Seizures are the outcomes of the energy transmitted by the brain.

Epilepsy is a group of neurological disorders characterized by epileptic seizures. Epileptic seizures are episodes that can vary from brief and nearly undetectable periods to long periods of vigorous shaking.
