Dr. Bhupen N Desai is a Mumbai-based Consultant Cardiologist with wide experience, who has been practising for over 20 years, since 1993. He is an expert in Angiography and Angioplasty via the Radial (wrist) route. He specialises in treating High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Heart Disease. He is proficient in medical management of patients not going in for Angioplasty or Bypass Surgery. Dr. Desai has performed several thousand 2D Echocardiographic studies including Colour Doppler, Neonatal, Pediatric, Portable and Dobutamine Stress Echo studies. The number of cardiac interventional procedures (Coronary Angiography & Angioplasty, Pacemaker etc) that he has performed also runs into the thousands. Dr. Bhupen Desai completed his MBBS from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal, in 1984, bagging a Gold Medal. He then obtained a Diploma in Cardiology in 1987 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. In 1990, he further went on to do his MD (Medicine) from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. Simultaneously, he cleared the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Medicine examination from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. With Cardiology as his chosen superspeciality, Dr. Desai rounded off his impressive roster of qualifications with a DM (Cardiology) degree from PGIMER in 1993. Dr. Desai is attached to a number of hospitals in Mumbai, as detailed elsewhere on this website. He is also involved with reporting and analysing ECGs & Holters at the Quintiles Data Processing Centre, a US FDA approved ECG laboratory in Mumbai, for institutes involved in research of drugs & devices. Dr. Bhupen Desai also has been actively involved in the area of training, having shared his expertise with students at superspeciality, postgraduate and junior levels. Besides having regularly travelled to various international conferences related to his area of work, Dr. Desai also has contributed to medical journals. He is a life member of various councils and associations and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
